New Models Coming in 2023: Ford Ranger

The new generation of Rangers from Ford is currently the talk of the town. But what's new in the 2023 Ford Ranger? According to most of the reports we have seen - not much at all. However, it does have some differences from the 2022 model, so let's see how they compare together.

Ford Ranger: General Specifications

While the prices of the 2023 Ford Rangers have risen somewhat from the previous year, there have been no significant modifications in performance capabilities, which have remained nearly the same. Both variants have a 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine (270 horsepower), a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, 4x2 as standard (4x4 optional), and a 7,500-pound towing capacity (when equipped with towing package).

This being said, why change something that isn't broken? The Ranger competes in the compact pickup truck segment thanks to its strong engine and towing capacity.

Fuel Economy

As you can see, there weren't many changes made to the overall performance specifications, which helps to explain why each 2023 and 2022 Ford Ranger model with the 4x2 drivetrains has an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway for a combined 23 mpg.

These figures start to vary slightly if you choose a 4x4 drivetrain. In comparison to the 2023 4WD Ranger, which gets 20 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and a combined 22 mpg, the 2022 4WD Ranger achieves 19 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the motorway, and 21 mpg overall. So the all-wheel-drive 2023 Ranger gives you a very tiny efficiency improvement for city driving, according to EPA calculations.

Interior Changes

The interior of the Ford Rangers from 2022 and 2023 hasn't altered much either. At their most basic, they have fewer conventional features and are more practical and sturdy than stylish.

Here are just some of the features that come as standard on both models:

  • USB port
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Four-speaker stereo system
  • 3.5-inch infotainment system
  • Locking glove box

Which Ford Ranger Should You Lease?

So, if you're searching for a better price, or if the 2023 models don't appeal to you, you might save some money by going with the 2022 Ford Ranger, and you won't be missing out on anything.
