Our Peugeot Expert Van Review 2022

Fancy leasing a Peugeot Expert Van?

The Peugeot Expert was completely redesigned in 2016, with a new platform, improved styling, and a slew of safety features added to the equipment list. All of this should make the Expert appealing to middleweight van drivers across the UK, though with several strong competitors in the sector, it will have its work cut out for it.

The Citroen Dispatch, Toyota Proace, and Vauxhall Vivaro are the three models that are related to the Expert. The PSA Group's EMP2 platform, which is also used by vehicles like the Peugeot 308, Vauxhall Grandland X, and Citroen Grand C4 Spacetourer, is utilised by all four of these vehicles. Because of this, compared to many competing vans, the Peugeot Expert and its siblings provide a more car-like driving experience. They also have access to some of the newest safety technology. So, let's take a look at how the Peugeot Expert compares.

Peugeot Expert’s Performance

The Expert is a far better van to drive than its predecessor, thanks largely to its car-derived foundations. Whereas the older Expert could be a little bouncy and the steering was a little shaky, the newer model rides more steadily and has a better connection to the road.

If you’re looking for an automatic gearbox, you'll have to opt for the BlueHDi 180. It's a powerful engine that works well with the transmission, but it consumes a lot of fuel. However, we recommend the BlueHDi 150 for its balance of performance and economy, as it achieves up to 41.3mpg in official tests and produces a healthy 272lb-ft of torque.

Peugeot Expert’s Interior

The steering wheel on the previous iteration of the Expert was uncomfortably offset and caused you to feel twisted in your seat; now, this problem has been much improved. The driver's seat in a mid-sized van is quite adjustable and among the most comfortable you'll find, with excellent support for your thighs and lower back. You also get a height-adjustable steering wheel, and all of the control placement is sensible and well-considered except the gear lever, which is a touch too close to the driver's knee.

Less striking is the windscreen's narrowness, which reduces sight and is particularly obvious while backing up with door mirrors that are unusually small for a medium-sized van. Even so, the fit and feel of all the major contact points, including the steering wheel, controls, and gear lever, are excellent.

Peugeot Expert’s Space

The Expert has been strengthened compared to its automobile siblings to manage huge commercial loads. It now features heavy-duty suspension and updated power steering that can take heavier loads. There is enough space in the back of all models for two Euro pallets, and the rear suspension setup has been engineered to minimise intrusion into the cargo area.

The Expert is available in three lengths: compact, standard, and long. This means that there is more variety than with most of the other vans in the market. Compact vans are 4600mm long, the same as a long-wheelbase small van like the Renault Kangoo Maxi or the Nissan NV200, and have a maximum storage area length of 2160mm.

The Standard van has a length of 4950mm and a load length of 2510mm. The Long version stretches 5300mm and can transport a length of 2860mm. An additional 1160mm of storage capacity is possible when equipped with a folding front passenger seat and load-through bulkhead, making it ideal for oversized lengths of pipe or wood. The Expert is also available as a minibus with three rows of seats and seating for nine passengers, a six-seat crew van, and a platform cab ready for specialist conversions.

The Compact, Standard, and Long bodies have to load volumes of 5.1m3, 5.8m3, and 6.6m3, respectively, with an overall height of 1940mm and a usable internal load height of 1397mm.
